Insurers to visit Port Pirie for dedicated Insurance Hub

Insurers will soon revisit Port Pirie to meet with policyholders impacted by severe storms that hit the region in late November 2025.

The consultations, hosted by the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA), will provide a dedicated opportunity for locals to meet face-to-face with representatives from multiple insurers to discuss existing claims or lodge new ones.

Representatives from the ICA will also be available to answer questions about the claims process, outline dispute resolution pathways, and provide practical insurance information to support impacted policyholders.

The Insurance Council of Australia hosted community information forums and insurer consultations in three south east Queensland communities impacted by the Christmas to New Year storms last week.

The forums and in-person consultations, which took place from 31 January to 2 February, were held in Upper Coomera, Jimboomba, and Tamborine Mountain, providing information and support for customers affected by the storms.

The Insurance Council of Australia and Insurers held another round of in person consultations for insurance customers impacted by the severe flooding that hit Rochester and surrounding Campaspe region last year.

The consultations took place at the Rochester Shire Hall from Monday, 24 July to Thursday, 27 July 2023.

The ICA hosted a second community information session on Wednesday 18 January at the Rochester Lawn Tennis Club (1 Diggora Road Rochester) for local insurance customers impacted by last October’s severe weather and flood in and around Rochester.  

The session provided policyholders with general information on all aspects of the claim process, including repair timelines, cash settlements, and the complaints process, and other information that may assist policyholders with their recovery process.

In addition, there was an opportunity for personal consultations with insurers on a drop-in basis on Thursday 19 January between 10am and 6pm at the same venue.

On 17 August 2022, the Insurance Council of Australia and insurers attended the Montrose Town Centre for in-person meetings with customers affected by last year’s severe storm event.

The in-person meetings provide customers with the opportunity to discuss the progress of their claim, and to work through any outstanding issues with their insurer.

On 12 May 2022, the Insurance Council of Australia hosted a policyholder virtual townhall providing an overview of the claims process and some responses to frequently asked questions. 

In March 2022, the Insurance Council of Australia and insurers visited communities impacted by Cyclone Seroja to provide one-on-one consultations at local venues in Kalbarri, Northampton, Morawa and Mingenew.

On Thursday 31 March 2022, the Insurance Council of Australia hosted its second virtual one-on-one consultations on for Gippsland and Yarra Ranges policyholders affected by the June 2021 severe weather event.

The Insurance Council of Australia hosted virtual one-on-one consultations for Gippsland and Yarra Ranges policyholders affected in January 2022. The virtual video or phone consultations were able to be booked with ICA representatives or insurers on Thursday 20 January 2022 from 9am – 8pm.

Insurers and the Insurance Council of Australia returned to the Springlake Hotel in Springfield Lakes for one-on-one consultations for policyholders impacted by the Halloween hailstorm on Wednesday 6 October 2021.

On 14 April, the Insurance Council of Australia declared an Insurance Catastrophe for impacted parts of Western Australia from Tropical Cyclone Seroja. 

Insurers and the Insurance Council of Australia were in Western Australia to assist policyholders impacted by Cyclone Seroja  from Tuesday 31 August until Friday 3 September 2021. Bookings for, COVID-safe in person appointments, were available online.

On 1 November, the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) declared a Catastrophe for damage caused by hailstorms that struck south-east Queensland on 31 October 2020.
Insurers and the Insurance Council of Australia attended the Springlake Hotel on Thursday 17 June for one-on-one consultations with customers, providing help with their insurance claims.

In early March 2021, the ICA hosted a community forum and two days of one-on-one consultations in Springfield Lakes for local policyholders affected by the Halloween hailstorm.
