The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) collects data to assist with data driven insights to help insure a more resilient Australia.
These insights also inform the ICA’s resilience and climate impact reports and advocacy efforts.
Every year, worsening extreme weather and natural hazards impact Australian communities. The ICA works with the insurance industry and other agencies to support communities through the recovery process.
One of the ways we’re able to do this, is by providing transparency on the insurance impact of extreme weather events and the industry’s performance in settling claims for recent declared catastrophes and significant events, supported by data.
Our records of natural hazard catastrophe events across Australia date back to 1967 and can be found below.
