The Insurance Council of Australia’s 2025 Annual Conference was held on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 October 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Sydney.
The event brought together industry leaders, regulators, policymakers, and commentators from across the international and domestic insurance industry to explore the key opportunities and challenges facing the sector — all through the lens of the theme Futureproofing Australia: Innovation, resilience, and leadership in a risky world.

The Insurance Council of Australia is held its Annual Dinner in early May 2025. Bringing together industry leaders, regulators, and commentators from the insurance industry and related fields, the ICA’s conference took a deep-dive into the key opportunities and challenges facing our sector.

Our evening started with a moving Welcome to Country from Michael West, followed by speeches from Nick Hawkins, ICA’s President and CEO of Insurance Australia Group, and a keynote address from Senator Jenny McAllister, Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy.
The ICA thank Sedgwick for sponsoring the welcome drinks at this event – an important part of the evening’s networking.
The ICA’s Annual Conference was back, in-person, at the Ivy Ballroom in the Sydney CBD.

When natural disaster strikes, the Insurance Council of Australia works with insurers, communities, and all levels of government, to assess damage, share data and support communities when they need it most.
As of May, the Insurance Council of Australia has declared three insurance #catastrophes in 2021 and in May, we help sessions with NSW and Federal Government stakeholders to provide on update on industry response and the proactive measures that will help build resilient communities.

The third Building Stronger Homes Roundtable event, convened by the Insurance Council of Australia and Master Builders Australia, looked at reforms to the way codes, standards and land use planning systems promote the resilience of Australian family homes.

The Building Stronger Homes Roundtable, convened by the Insurance Council of Australia and Master Builders Australia, focused on the financial impacts of natural disasters, the cost of rebuilding and the learnings from existing resilient homes programs, with the aim of creating actionable change.
