Catastrophe 221: NSW and South East Queensland Floods

Event background

On Monday, 28 February 2022, the ICA extended the Insurance Catastrophe declaration made on Saturday for South-East Queensland to include those areas of New South Wales impacted by the ongoing weather cell.

The scale of this event is large, and the population of the affected areas means the human impact is significant.

Claims numbers are much higher than at the same point during other recent flood events and we expect claims to continue to increase as more people return to their properties.

Claims numbers are being updated regularly on ICA's Twitter page.
