Insurance industry supporting First Nations Peoples
The insurance industry recognises the necessity to understand the views and needs of Australia’s First Nations peoples and in recognition of this, the Insurance Council of Australia has established an Indigenous Advisory Committee.
The role of the Indigenous Advisory Committee
The focus of the Committee is on advising the industry on Indigenous-related issues to drive better customer outcomes, support reconciliation actions, increase industry understanding of vulnerable customers and increase knowledge of specific cultural and heritage concerns.
Reconciliation Action Plan
The Insurance Council's Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) outlines our commitment to advance reconciliation between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Our RAP represents a significant milestone in our journey towards fostering greater understanding, respect, and opportunities within the insurance industry. It is not just a plan, but a pledge to make a real difference, and it reflects our belief in the power of inclusivity and mutual respect.
We recognise that reconciliation is a journey rather than a destination. It is about building relationships, respect, and trust between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This is why we consider our RAP as the starting point of a journey that brings us all closer together to build a resilient Australia.
