Unregistered? Unlicensed? Motor vehicle insurance claims may be rejected
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) warns car owners that motor vehicle insurance claims are likely to be denied if they are driving an unregistered vehicle or do not have a licence.
This follows revelations that police are catching more than 900 Victorian motorists a week driving unregistered cars.
ICA CEO Rob Whelan said: "Drivers of unregistered vehicles or unlicensed motorists who are involved in collisions risk liabilities of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars because third-party property and comprehensive motor vehicle insurance policies are likely to treat a claim as invalid."
